Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1 Comic Review

Greetings Comic Lovers,

As stated in an earlier post,

I have forsaken my comic reviews on this site as of late with all the "real" world work I have been up to, but I vow that the year 2016 will be the year of change. I am still doing interviews and posts for the site Somewhatnerdy so I suggest you check that site as well.  For those of you who missed my interviews, click the link and see what I have been up to.  I have interviewed wrestlers, actors, directors, models, as well as the cosplayers you have all grown to love.  :)

Anyway, let's get to my first review of the new year shall we?

Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1 is a breath of fresh air after the events of Marvel's latest Secret Wars.  In fact, the book pokes fun at it a little as well as other things that are trending right now, including Star Wars.

The issue starts with  a galactic funeral for two of the greatest guardians there ever was.  Only problem is, as you find out later in the book, they are not dead. They are simply trapped in another dimension thanks to the events that took place in Secret Wars.

We find a stranger trying to buy passage from two familiar looking characters.  No it is not Rocket and Groot but that universe's version.  They agree for the transport only to be arrested and accused of theft from the ruler of the system they were assigned to go to.  That leader was none other than Rocket and the stranger is none other than Groot.  What happens next?  Well, we will have to wait for issue #2.

I personally loved this issue and I am looking forward to the series to continue to grow.  I give issue #1 an 8 out of 10 rating. The writing of Skottie Young is action packed with humor as always and the art of Felipe Andrade has enough Young qualities that fans love while making it his own.  I truly cannot wait to read more.

GROOTLACTUS

I would buy this action figure if they made one.
That is how much I am loving this right now.

Panel is taken from Groot #2.

Funko Fun! - Guardians Style

I was checking my email and Entertainment Earth sent me a beauty.
For the first time ever, Dancing Groot and Howard the Duck are available in Funko Pop Vinyl form.
Great news just in time for Christmas!

Check out the link under each image for what I predict will be best sellers this year.
