Thor Annual #1: A Comic Review

Greetings True Believers!  How are you on this wonderful THORsday?  I admit I have been a stranger to my own creation, but time has come my way and I am dedicating more time to my Domain aka Blog for the summer.  I would still appreciate your support with my other "gig" at Somewhatnerdy but I felt I needed to get back to my roots, you know where it all began.  When I first started this journey I never dreamed that I would get the chance to interview the variety of people that I have.I mean, in my short career, I have interviewed icons in pop culture including Elvira and some of the voices from cartoons past. I have been truly blessed and I cannot wait to see what the future brings.  But enough about me, let's get to my comic review shall we.

For this THORSday, I have chosen to review Thor Annual #1.  This particular issue was released by Marvel on February 25, 2015.  This is a collection of works by such writers as Noelle Stevenson, Jason Aaron, and CM Punk.  Yes, you read that correctly, CM Punk.  In fact, it is CM Punk's tale that I like the best.

As I stated before, the Thor annual is a collection of stories revolving around the many faces of Thor, There's the old Thor, the female Thor and the young Thor.  CM Punk's tale is about the young Thor.  Which will be my focus for this review.  In the tale of the young Thor, we find Mephisto traveling back in time to prevent Thor from lifting his mighty Mjolnir and becoming the great hero he was destined to be. How does Mephisto plan on doing this?  By challenging Thor to a drinking contest and adding his own "brew" to the mix.  Well, when all is said and done, Thor is victorious and the devil is down for the count.  That is all I have to say about that because I feel you should read this book for yourself.

All the stories are well written and illustrated to help set the tone of the story. With the small glimpse of Punk's writing style, I am already filled with excitement knowing he is one of the writers for the upcoming Drax series from Marvel.  I give this annual a perfect rating of 10 out of  10.  So, if you do not have a copy, go through the back issue lots of your local comic store or download the digital coy and get your READ on, you will be glad you did.
