Alpha questions Beta's loyalty when they disagree about what to do with Negan. |
Brutal and unmoving, Beta is aggressive to any and all outsiders. He is obedient to a fault and strictly adheres to the rules set by Alpha, even when she does not follow them. He is extremely protective of Alpha, partially as her bodyguard and second in command and also in part due to his feelings for her.
One thing that Beta is fiercely protective over is his face and appearance. He wears his 'skin mask' on his face at all times, even outside of the presence of walkers. If anyone tries to remove it, Beta will kill them without a second thought, even if they are fellow Whisperers.
Beta is a very large man, standing at around 7 ft tall. He wears a long trench coat and, unlike other Whisperers, only wears a roamer scalp and upper face instead of a full skin-suit, likely due to being unable to find a roamer as large as he is. Despite his size, Beta is blindingly fast on his feet, probably owing to his background as an athlete. He is armed with two large knives that he uses to deadly effect. All of this makes him the most dangerous combatant among the Whisperers. (To read more check out the Walking Dead Comic Series Beta page)

Beta and Alpha discuss what the future has in store for the Whisperers |
For all my Walking Dead fans out there, we already know that the show strays from the comics in many ways. For example, some key players that are supposed to be involved in this story-line are dead or written off script from the Whisperers original appearance in the Walking Dead comics. So, what does this mean for Beta? Will he be killed off in a war with the Hilltop? Will he ever come face to face with Negan? Who knows. All I know is that Beat is one bad ass mother and I would love to see him and Daryl go at it. I think Daryl is realistically the one who would win that match off, but who knows, Beta is a bad, bad man.

First Appearance: the Walking Dead #154 |
The casting director picked the best actor they could to play Beta. Ryan Hurst is a BEAST! He was born to play this role. That is why I hope they keep Beta around for a few seasons because He is the antagonist that the show needs right now, especially with Negan back in prison in Alexandria. I haven't been this excited for a season of Walking Dead since the first appearance of Negan on the series. With that said, make sure to tune in tomorrow to see what fun Beta gets into and let's just hope there is an epic battle scene before the season finale.
