Thor's Identity Revealed (Spoiler Alert)

Ever since the new Thor premiered, everyone wanted to know exactly who she was.  I for one thought it would be Thor's mother at first, the All-Mother, but then events happened to change my mind.  In issue #8, we are finally shown who is worthy to be called Thor and it is none other than...

( Spoiler Alert: Do not proceed if you want to read the comic for yourself.)
  ((You have been warned.))

...Jane Foster.

I must admit, I was surprised, but in a good way.  Good for you Marvel.

the Punisher #7 and #8, an amazing tale of a hero

This is not going to be an ordinary comic review, it's more of a praise to the Nathan Edmondson and Kevin Maurer for writing such a wonderful story arc.  In the first six issues, Frank had his hands full with the Doles Soles gang, Electro, and a military strike force known as the Howling Commandos.  Everyone wanted him dead and they almost accomplished that very goal.

In issue #7, Frank finds himself in Southern Mexico getting patched up from the Howling Commandos' bullet that almost claimed his life.  He knew it would be dangerous, but he had no choice.  While he was passed out from surgery, the doctor called on the local "police" knowing who he just helped.  Frank should have felt lucky because he had a police escort to hell.  When he reaches his "final" destination, he finds himself in Guanacaste. which is a city on the Coasta Rica and Nicaragua border.  This city is home to El Diablito aka Mr. Ortiz.  Well, Mr. Ortiz is in the business of making money and with that being said, Frank is worth more alive than dead, but that doesn't mean he cannot have a little fun.  After they mess Frank up, they throw him in a cell with another American.  This American happens to be a medic on a special forces team that was sent to shadow Mr. Ortiz. The medic and Frank hatch a plan to get out and get help.  What they don't know is, while they have escaped El Diablito's base of operations, the merc Crossbones is on his way for the Punisher.  When Frank realizes whose on their trail, he knows it is time for War.

Frank and the medic give Crossbones a little bit of Hell on Earth, even manged to trick the merc with a mine. An epic battle occurs and Frank is close to winning but Crossbones has the "best" of them, well at least for the moment.  Frank gives up his freedom to let the medic, Tom live as well as find the remains of his fallen brethren and send them back home.  Crossbones agrees because his payday is Frank and that is all he wants.

It is in that moment were this comic book became a touching story about Patriotism and the Brotherhood of Soldiers.  Unless you are or were in the military, it might be hard to understand, but you never leave a soldier behind.  Frank gave Tom the chance to live on and fight another day, and he gave the rest of the unit the ability to go home and Rest In Peace.  The story ends with Tom's point of view and how things have changed since that meeting with the Punisher.  Frank has earned a permanent spot on his team, and he knows that Frank will always have his back.

Well done Marvel, well done indeed!
These two issues have a perfect rating of 10 out of 10, 'nuff said!

Books Worth Reading: Moon Knight

If you are not reading the Moon Knight series from the Marvel Now! line, you truly don't know what you are missing.  Everyone knows that I am a huge Moon Knight fan, so I would buy this title anyway, but issue #5 stands alone and I think it has the potential to make believers out of anyone.  Issue #5 tells a story of Scarlet, a girl who was kidnapped from school due to a turf war.  Well, Mr. Knight doesn't like those kind of crimes going down in his town, on his watch.  So, he finds the place they are keeping her and takes care of each goon in his path, one by one, floor by floor, until he is able to save Scarlet.

I personally like this version of Moon Knight.  He has finally let go of sympathy so that he kind dispense the justice needed to keep innocents safe.  I would love to see a team up with this version of Moon Knight with another Marvel Now star known as the Punisher.  If those two ever join forces, I pity the lost souls that they are after because they do not have a chance, no chance in hell.

I give this series a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.  I know the title is only in it's 5 issue, but with writing of Warren Ellis and the fantastic artwork by Declan Shalvey, the book is sure to succeed again and again.  Don't take my word for it.  Go get issue #5 of Moon  Knight and you will be hooked for life.

Savage Wolverine #7: Comic Review

Greetings my fellow comic fans,

This is just a mini-comic review for a book that should be talked about.  The Savage Wolverine title from the Marvel Now movement has been nothing but total nonstop action!  This is by far one of the books I look forward to reading from Marvel.

Issue #7  has Wolverine teaming with Elektra to stop the body of Bullseye from being reanimated by the Hand.  So needless to say there are a lot of dead ninjas in the city of New York at the hands of Wolverine.  I do not want to give too much away because I want you to read this book.

I give this issue a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.  Get your copy today.

A + X #7 Comic Review

What can I say?  I love these little gems from the Marvel Now series known as the A + X titles.  You don't even have to follow all the Avengers or X-titles to follow along because the stories are that damn good.  It has been a while since I have reviewed an issue of A+X, but I felt this issue was worth talking about.

What made this issue stand out you ask?  The first story made it stand out.  I title this story, Banner is the Smartest.  Why you ask? It's simple, he is.  Let me explain why.  This issue starts with Tony Stark and Hank McCoy working together to find some sort of Hulk neutralizer in case Banner cannot be controlled.  Right now Banner seems to have his act together, but they are simply afraid that history will repeat itself.

Anyway, to make a long story short, they are working on a new Hulk buster armor that S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to get its hands on and they have been having McCoy look at it.  Well, Hank was puzzled and he requested the help of Stark since it follows his plans and designs.  Well, when Tony got his hands on it, he uploaded a virus that caused the suit to become alive and nearly killed the both of them as well as their lab crew.

What stopped them from dying?  The best Hulk smash panel I have seen in recent history that's what.  When the Hulk reverted to his Banner form, he removed a jump drive that was connected to the armor.  You see, Banner planted this armor as well as the virus to prove once and for all that Banner is the smartest.

Here is the panel I was telling you about.  Sick right?"

This issue also has a pretty good Thor and Ice Man story but what made this issue for me was the Hulk getting the best of the Beast and Iron Man.  It is definitely worth buying or downloading this issue. I give this book a perfect 10 out of 10 rating for this story alone.  Good job Zeb Wells, what a way to write!

Age of Ultron Book Seven Comic Review

My last review for the Age of Ultron series was over at my other gig, www.somewhatnerdy.com, feel free to check them out, and it was about books 3-6.  Well, as we left off in issue six Wolverine did what no one wanted to do.  He went in the past and killed Hank Pym.  What does this mean for our heroes?  Well, we got a good slap in the face when we read the first pages of Book 7.

It turns out by Wolverine killing Pym in the past, he altered the future a little too much.  It seems that the Avengers were unable to stop the Kree and Skrull war which ended up having a very different outcome for Earth.

That isn't the only thing that changed.  As you can tell from the cover image from book seven, the looks of our heroes has changed as well.  In fact, some heroes are not even the original players from the universe we know and love.

Just exactly has Wolverine done?  We will find out when Book Eight is released.  Hell, it is probably already out and I just haven't gotten mine yet.  I guess I need to drag my butt to the store and get my copy, LoL.

Seriously, the writing of Bendis has just been Marvelous and I applaud his creative genius.  I give this issue a strong rating of 8 out of 10.

Marvel Now: Captain America #1

I have to be honest with you, not a fan of the relaunch.  Out of all the new issues from Marvel that I have read since the Marvel Now revolution has started, this is the worst one in my opinion.  Taking nothing away from the artists or writers, when I read this book it didn't feel like a Captain America story.  I have not given up hope, but I do not like where this ship may be going.
