Christmas

How was your Christmas?

Mine seemed like it took place in a galaxy, far, far, away.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Wonder Woman animated film (2009)

So, for my Christmas evening viewing I decided to watch the Wonder Woman animated film.  I gotta admit, I am a fan of this film.  My only problem with the film is the introduction of the invisible jet.  I know that is a Wonder Woman must, but if the Amazons were hidden for centuries, where the hell did that plane come from.  LoL, I guess it just one of those things that make you go hmmmm.

Supergirl Shocker

If you watch the CBS series Supergirl, you might have been shocked on tonight's episode when Hank Henshaw let his real identity be known.  If you didn't see it, here is a glimpse.

My only question is this, if he is the Hank Henshaw that is helping Supergirl where is the real Hank Henshaw?  Sure he is rumored to be dead, but all of us comic fans know that isn't always the case.  I mean, he is a Cyborg after all.

Secret Wars 2099 #3

I have been reading key issues of the latest Secret Wars from Marvel and I have to say I have been impressed with most of the issues so far.  One of my favorite titles has been the Secret Wars 2099 series.  This week we saw the release of issue #2 which has the futuristic Avengers take on the Defenders of 2099.

One panel sticks out in my mind from this issue.  The panel shows Hulk 2099 and Hercules standing side by side, when all of a sudden there is props given to the Avengers film.  You know, the Hulk and Thor seen.

Needless to say I laughed my ass off!

I would buy this action figure if they made one.
That is how much I am loving this right now.

Thor Annual #1: A Comic Review

Greetings True Believers!  How are you on this wonderful THORsday?  I admit I have been a stranger to my own creation, but time has come my way and I am dedicating more time to my Domain aka Blog for the summer.  I would still appreciate your support with my other "gig" at Somewhatnerdy but I felt I needed to get back to my roots, you know where it all began.  When I first started this journey I never dreamed that I would get the chance to interview the variety of people that I have.I mean, in my short career, I have interviewed icons in pop culture including Elvira and some of the voices from cartoons past. I have been truly blessed and I cannot wait to see what the future brings.  But enough about me, let's get to my comic review shall we.

For this THORSday, I have chosen to review Thor Annual #1.  This particular issue was released by Marvel on February 25, 2015.  This is a collection of works by such writers as Noelle Stevenson, Jason Aaron, and CM Punk.  Yes, you read that correctly, CM Punk.  In fact, it is CM Punk's tale that I like the best.

As I stated before, the Thor annual is a collection of stories revolving around the many faces of Thor, There's the old Thor, the female Thor and the young Thor.  CM Punk's tale is about the young Thor.  Which will be my focus for this review.  In the tale of the young Thor, we find Mephisto traveling back in time to prevent Thor from lifting his mighty Mjolnir and becoming the great hero he was destined to be. How does Mephisto plan on doing this?  By challenging Thor to a drinking contest and adding his own "brew" to the mix.  Well, when all is said and done, Thor is victorious and the devil is down for the count.  That is all I have to say about that because I feel you should read this book for yourself.

All the stories are well written and illustrated to help set the tone of the story. With the small glimpse of Punk's writing style, I am already filled with excitement knowing he is one of the writers for the upcoming Drax series from Marvel.  I give this annual a perfect rating of 10 out of  10.  So, if you do not have a copy, go through the back issue lots of your local comic store or download the digital coy and get your READ on, you will be glad you did.

Thor's Identity Revealed (Spoiler Alert)

Ever since the new Thor premiered, everyone wanted to know exactly who she was.  I for one thought it would be Thor's mother at first, the All-Mother, but then events happened to change my mind.  In issue #8, we are finally shown who is worthy to be called Thor and it is none other than...

( Spoiler Alert: Do not proceed if you want to read the comic for yourself.)
  ((You have been warned.))

...Jane Foster.

I must admit, I was surprised, but in a good way.  Good for you Marvel.

Comic Picks for April 1, 2015

Trickster Tuesday - DC Who's Who

the Flash - "Tricksters"

Bravo to CW’s the Flash for bringing back Mark Hamill as the Trickster in the episode titled “Tricksters”. Not only were the original TV Flash as well as his nemesis Trickster reunited, but we got a glimpse of the Speed Force and we were clued in on exactly who Dr. Harrison Wells really is. I just wonder how long it will take Barry to figure that out, or will he be too late?

The Return of Cosplay Interviews

Firestorm Easter Egg

I assigned my Art students an Easter Egg design project.  Of course I had to get in on the fun.  Since it was Friday I paid tribute to Firestorm.  This was done on lain copy paper with the use of sharpie markers and a crayola marker for the skin tone.  I think I did pretty good.  I caught some of my students trying to take it, lol.
