Mini-Review starring Uncanny Avengers #1

Greetings my fellow comic fans,

I am starting my mini-review posts with the title, Uncanny Avengers #1.  The only reason I am doing a mini-post for this book is simple, I received my issue two weeks after it was released so everyone and anyone already reviewed it to death since it was one of Marvel's most hyped releases in October.
Now let's get to the actual review.

Uncanny Avengers #1 is a solid start to a new title from Marvel.  This title f course takes place after the Avengers Vs X-men series.  Teams are views are starting to change in the Marvel Universe.  The book follows several people in the aftermath of Cyclop's betrayal,n story involves Captain America trying to convince Havok to join the Avengers. After their conversation, they come across Avalanche destroying the city.  Cap asks Havok for help, which provided a kick ass panel (see above pic), and he does without hesitation.

After this battle sequence, we find the Scarlet Witch paying her respects at Professor X's memorial and Rogue doesn't like it one bit.  They get in an argument but are rudely interrupted by a bunch of the Red Skull's mutant henchman.  As one goes for the kill on Rogue, Wanda gets in they way and seems to have perished to their new foes.
Exactly what will happen next?  Well, we will have to wait for issue #2 to find out.  Be sure to check www.somewhatnerdy.com for my review of issue #2 when it is the shelves.  I give this title a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.

Until next time, keep reading!

Of course you know I had to get the Deadpool variant cover, LoL.

Uncanny X-Force: Deathlok Nation

Deathlok NationI just read the second collection of the Uncanny X-Force by Marvel Comics.  This collection is titled Deathlok Nation.  It did not disappoint.
For those of you out of the loop, the new X-Force team consists of Wolverine, Deadpool, Fantomex, Psylocke, and Archangel.  This team is full of people who are willing to do the unthinkable to save the world from extinction.  In this case, they are battling Deathloks from the future.  They are not ordinary cyborgs, no they are Deathloks made out of the Earth's greatest heroes.
I am not going to go in more detail about the book because I want you to read it for yourself.  I will tell you that there is an appearance from Lady Deathstrike and the Reavers.

I give the book a strong 9 out of 10.

Uncanny X-men #132

Uncanny 132One of my favorite comic panels of all time comes from Uncanny X-men #132.  In this issue the X-men are in battle with the Hellfire Club.  This team is my favorite X-men team by far.  If you are not familiar with this storyline, you really need to get a hold of the back-issues to be able to enjoy the true depth of the story as well as the emotion.
If you are a old school Wolverine fan, you will really love these back stories.  Wolverine has always been an ass kicker, but not like he was when he took on the Hellfire Club and their goons.
I remember the first time I read this issue and saw and read the ending panel that I am about to show you.  I thought to myself, damn the bad guys are in for the fight of their life.  I may have laughed a little with delight as well, LoL.

Anyway, check out one of the most talked about panels in X-men history.

The Uncanny X-force: the Apocalypse Solution

Uncanny X-forceI have to admit, I do not get to read every issue of every comic that I want.  Especially at $ 3.99 a pop!  So, I am forced to wait for trades so I get more for my buck.  Well, the other day I got my copy of the Uncanny X-force: the Apocalypse Solution trade.  And I have to say, I love it!  It was one of the best reads this year! For those of you who might know, when Cyclop's "Death Squad" was disbanded, Wolverine started a new X-force with the help of Psylocke and Archangel.  Who else is on the team? Why Fantomex and Deadpool that's who.  This trade follows the new teams first mission, find and kill the reborn Apocalypse.  Without giving too much away, I just want to say that this trade is worth getting and I am sure any trades that follow will be worth getting to.  Get this trade especially if you are a Deadpool fan because he has some good jokes as well as his normal insanity in this issue.  Enjoy and Happy Reading!

I leave you with some of the Deadpool humor that I am talking about.
