Mini Comic Review: Hawkeye #4 & #5

If you are a fan of Hawkeye, you will definitely love the latest series from Marvel.  I have done reviews of this series before but today's review focuses on issues #4 and #5 with a story called "the tape".
"The Tape" is a story that focuses on a tape that supposedly has Hawkeye assasinating an evil crimelord.  Did Clint aka Hawkeye really kill soembody?  You need to read the issues to see the details.  It really is worth your time to read the story.  So far I have not been disappointed in the Hawkeye books.  With that being said, I am giving issues # 4 & 5 a rating of 10 out of 10.
Please continue to go to www.somewhatnerdy.com for my recent reviews as well as my cosplay interviews.

Marvel Now: Captain America #1

I have to be honest with you, not a fan of the relaunch.  Out of all the new issues from Marvel that I have read since the Marvel Now revolution has started, this is the worst one in my opinion.  Taking nothing away from the artists or writers, when I read this book it didn't feel like a Captain America story.  I have not given up hope, but I do not like where this ship may be going.

Birthday Wishes

Happy Birthday Jessica Nova!

Mini-Review starring Uncanny Avengers #1

Greetings my fellow comic fans,

I am starting my mini-review posts with the title, Uncanny Avengers #1.  The only reason I am doing a mini-post for this book is simple, I received my issue two weeks after it was released so everyone and anyone already reviewed it to death since it was one of Marvel's most hyped releases in October.
Now let's get to the actual review.

Uncanny Avengers #1 is a solid start to a new title from Marvel.  This title f course takes place after the Avengers Vs X-men series.  Teams are views are starting to change in the Marvel Universe.  The book follows several people in the aftermath of Cyclop's betrayal,n story involves Captain America trying to convince Havok to join the Avengers. After their conversation, they come across Avalanche destroying the city.  Cap asks Havok for help, which provided a kick ass panel (see above pic), and he does without hesitation.

After this battle sequence, we find the Scarlet Witch paying her respects at Professor X's memorial and Rogue doesn't like it one bit.  They get in an argument but are rudely interrupted by a bunch of the Red Skull's mutant henchman.  As one goes for the kill on Rogue, Wanda gets in they way and seems to have perished to their new foes.
Exactly what will happen next?  Well, we will have to wait for issue #2 to find out.  Be sure to check www.somewhatnerdy.com for my review of issue #2 when it is the shelves.  I give this title a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.

Until next time, keep reading!

Of course you know I had to get the Deadpool variant cover, LoL.

Mesage from Derf

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to update you on some things.  I know I haven't been posting as much on this page as I would like to, but I have been busy the past month or two.  As you know, I now keep my cosplay reviews strictly just for www.somewhatnerdy.com.  I enjoy being a member of that team and you should check those interviews out.  I post a new interview every Monday.  I also do comic reviews for the site.  However, I am going to start doing mini reviews for this blog.  I call them mini reviews because they will not be as detailed.  Maybe its a book I didn't get to review before they sold out or possibly a book I didn't really have a lot to say.

Another reason I have been away is my health.  I suffered a spinal injury that put me in a wheel chair.  With weeks of physical therapy, which was prescribed by my neurosurgeon, I have made a lot of progress.  I am no longer in a wheel chair and I am able to walk around with a cane.  SO, I hope this means you will be seeing more posts on my blog in the near future.

Thanks for your all that you do.

World's finest: Huntress & Power Girl #0 Comic Review

For my next mini-review,
I am sticking to the Earth 2 theme and reviewing Huntress and Power Girl #0.
This issue was written by Paul Levitz and drawn by Kevin Maguire and Wes Craig.
The story is titled Beginnings and it means just what it says.  Before there was the Huntress, their was Robin, daughter to Batman and Catwoman.  Before their was Power Girl, there was Supergirl, Superman's cousin from Krypton.  They became best buds after Kara stepped in and helped Robin out of a situation.  What was the situation?  You will have to get this issue to see for yourself.
I think the story was written very well and drawn wonderfully to set the mood.
I give this issue a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.
Don't forget to look for more of my reviews at www.somewhatnerdy.com.

Earth 2 #0 Comic Review

As some of you may know, I do the comic reviews for the site, www.somewhatnerdy.com.
Well, sometimes I have to choose from a multitude of choices.
SO, I decided to start doing mini-reviews on this site.  A mini-review is for the books I enjoyed and think you will as well.
My major reviews will still go up at somewhatnerdy, so make sure to follow both sites.

For my first mini-review, I choose issue #0 of the Earth 2 series from DC Comics New 52 line-up.
The story is titled a Hero's Tale and it is written by James Robinson and drawn by Tomas Giorello.  The story is told from the perspective of Terry Sloan aka Mr. 8, who is a member of the league of heroes who are trying to stop Darkseid's invasion of Earth 2.  Well, Terry is all about survival of the fittest and he has figured out a way to prolong his life.  How he does this is down right evil.  He turns on the League and and does a dimensional jump as Earth 2 is destroyed.  To be known as a hero or villain is of little consequence to Terry, for his main goal is to make the world a stronger world no matter the cost.

Great Art + Great Writing = a damn good book!  5 out of 5 stars.
