Spider-Man: the Power of Terror

Power of Terror

Greetings Readers,

For those of you who follow my blog, you know how much I love ebay and finding great deals on comics.  Well, I found a great mini-series featuring everyone's favorite webslinger.  The 4 issue mini-series is called the Power of Terror and stars Spidey, Deathlok, Silvermane, Daredevil, the Punisher, and more villains than you can shake a stick at.
The story finds Silvermane trying to rise to power. How does he do this?  Total Mob War!  The heroes get caught in the crossfire trying to save the innocent and Silvermane tries to steal Deathlok's technology for his own gain.
I do not want to ruin the story because I feel you should read the series for yourself. I give the series a rating of 7 out of 10.  You don't have to be a Spidey fan to enjoy this book  So look in your comic boxes or go online and get your copies today!  Until next time, Happy Reading!

Higher Learning

Cover

I decided to share a story that costars Firestorm from the Secret Files and Origins 2000 edition from DC Comics.  The story was written by Jay Faerber and drawn by Darick Robertson.  I find it to be an entertaining short story.  Poor Atom thought that the reserve members of the JLA would actually be easy to teach.  Well, enough rambling, I present to you Higher Learning.  Enjoy!

Wonder Girl One-Shot

One-Shot
To keep with the Titan Tuesday theme, I wanted to take this time to review the DC Comics one-shot, Wonder Girl.  I am not a big Titans reader as of late, but something told me to buy the issue and give it a go.  I am glad I did.  It was a very interesting story, one I wish not to spoil.  Basically without giving to much away, Wonder Girl has reunited with her mother for a visit at a museum when she decides to skip out on a lecture and meets a new fried while looking at the artifacts.  Well, then all hell breaks loose when a Titans villian once to rob the museum and Cass gets into the action once she discards her civilian attire.  While in the mist of battle she gets some unexpected help and takes the villian down.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this title.  I give the story a rating of  8.5 out of 10.  Get your issue today before you miss your chance.

I decided to make today Titan Tuesday.  Enjoy these views of the Titans through the years.

Alice Malice Interview

Zantanna TrickAs I told you before, today is Malice Monday to celebrate my friend, Alice Malice and her website.  The website is http://www.thealicemalice.com/ (NSFW).  Anyone, I caught up with the always beautiful Alice to ask her questions I thought you would like to know the answers to.  So, without further delay, I give you Alice Malice.

1. What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Alice Malice and I am a cosplayholic...this is cosplay anonymous right?

2. How did you discover cosplay?

I went to my first convention, Megacon and thought it was heaven. I went in my civvies and knew from that point on I needed to express my love for certain characters in a more direct way

Succubus3. What characters have you cosplayed?

I have cosplayed American Mcgee's Alice, Alice from Resident evil, Black Cat, Bulbasaur, Dawn, Death, Elvira, Misato from Evangelion, Ms. Marvel, multiple Poison Ivy's, x-men evolution Rogue, 80s rogue, Utena

4. What sites have you worked with?
I've been seen on other nude cosplay websites and alt sites, but right now my current focus is my own personal website http://www.thealicemalice.com/ . It just opened and I'm having a blast!!

5. Tell us more about your site. What can we expect to see?

It's going to be a mixture of alt, cosplay, and fetish. With photos updating every week on wed (so hop on after you read your new comics!!). I'll also be having a couple lady pals on there with me.

Absinthe

6. What comic related movie(s) are you looking forward to most in the year 2011?

Captain America and Thor....utterly. And while I was initially against the idea of X-men First class, it seems like it might be decent, so I'll be seeing that as well just not as excited.

7. What game(s) are you currently playing?

As I type this I've been doing a lot of online roleplaying on Tallest Silver's board as Emma frost...lol http://gothamhigh.proboards.com/index.cgi .Other then that I've been playing Mass Effect 2 a lot again, while grooving to the Tron legacy soundtrack

8. What can we expect from you in the future?

I have some new cosplays I'm working on, like right now I am literally just about finished with my Astonishing X-men Emma Frost cosplay, with a few other ideas behind that like She-hulk and Jubilee

9. Are you reading any good trades/titles that you would recommend?

The trade paperbacks I swear I re-read every month are The Dark Knight Returns and the Astonishing X-men series. And as for weekly titles I think more people need to be reading Dark Wolverine, Wolverine and Jubilee (totally got misty at the first issue btw), and X-factor.

The Capture of Cobra Commander

Cover    Sometimes I gotta say I love ebay!  I mean, where else can you find stuff from your childhood fo a decent price?  I was one of those kids who loved everything G I Joe.  Cartoons, clothes, toys, if it had anything to do with G I Joe, I was an instant fan and had to have it.  Anyway, last year I got hold of an unused G I Joe coloring book. It was published in 1984 and the story of the book was titled, The Capture of Cobra Commander.  I had this book as a child and I have it once again thanks to ebay.  So what did I decide to do?  I decided to scan every page for my dedicated followers and fellow geeks.  If you would like to see all the pages, just go to my Derf's Domain Facebook page and look at the photo album titled, G I Joe coloring book.  It is that simple.  For now, I hope you enjoy this pic I picked from the book showing Storm Shadow trying to convince Cobra Commander to retreat.

Sith Witch

Have you been watching the latest episodes of Star Wars: Clone Wars?  Well, if you have, you just finished watching the Night Sisters trilogy.  For those of you who do not know, the  Night Sisters were a group of Dathomiri Witches (usually exiled from one of the other clans) who used the Dark Side of the Force. Though they used the dark side, their powers and abilities were quite different from the Sith Lords, which caused confusion among Jedi  scholars as to who or what they really were.
During the Clone Wars, there was a coven under the leadership of Mother Talzin, who welcomed back and helped Asajj Ventress in her quest for vengeance against Dooku, who had betrayed her. Which is where the Night Sisters Trilogy came into play.
Anyway, after seeing the episode last night, I was on the Star Wars blog and found this wonderful image of a Sith Witch cosplay and I decided to share.  You also should check out the link to Bryan Humphrey's Deviantart gallery because he is just awesome!  I see a lot of Cosplay of the Day coming from there if he let's me, lol.  Anyway, Sith Witch portrayed by Mary Ellen Berglund.

Adam Hughes Interview

AH ZatannaGreetings fellow geek and geekettes, I am so thrilled and honored to present to you my interview with the one and only Adam Hughes.  As you know this man is one of the best artists, if not the best, in the biz.  You can currently see his work on the covers of the Zantanna series from DC Comics.  Without further delay, I present my interview with Adam Hughes.

What is your name and where are you from?

My name is Adam Hughes and I'm from Florence, New Jersey.

What made you decide to draw for a living?

It's the one thing I was always good at it. I originally wanted to be an astronaut, but we stopped going to the Moon when I was 8.

Who is your favorite character to draw?

I'm fickle; it changes all the time. Catwoman, currently.

What companies have you worked for?

Almost all of them, including a few that aren't even around any more (not because of me, I hope). I've never worked for Disney. Yet.

I know that besides comics, you have done some art for Star Wars. What is your favorite Star Wars piece that you have done? Do you have a favorite character to draw?

Probably... I'd say it would be my Art Nouveau Slave Leia that I did for Star Wars CELEBRATIONS 4. My favorite would probably be Luke Skywalker. He's the hero, after all.

Slave LeiaWhere can we find examples of your work?

My DeviantArt page, for one. Also, my coffee-table book COVER RUN: THE DC COMICS ART OF ADAM HUGHES.

What projects are you working on at the moment?

I'm now the regular cover artist for DC Comic's ZATANNA. I'm doing various other covers for DC, including one for ACTION COMICS #900! I'm also working an a couple projects that are kinda hush-hush.

How does it feel to see some of your drawings come to life in statue form?
Harley Statue
It was fun at first. Now, it's all about "Ooooh, they go that eyebrow wrong..." Once the magic wears off, it's all about the Job at that point.

What are your plans for the near future?

Try to be happier, and figure out how to be middle-aged.
Zantanna 12

What advice can you give to anyone who may want to illustrate as a career?

Be warned: 'fun' and 'rewarding' are not the same thing. Once your avocation becomes your vocation, it's time to find a new hobby. Drawing for a living can suck all the fun out of the process, but it can still be a richly rewarding experience. You MAY be one of the lucky idiots who still has fun, in which case, well.... you suck.
